Food and Water Committee discusses the Wishes Regarding Agricultural Marketing

The Food and Water Security Committee of the Shura Council hosted a number of specialists from the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries to discuss the Wishes regarding "Agricultural Marketing: Between Reality and Aspiration."
The meeting addressed the role of the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries in managing and advancing the agricultural marketing sector in cooperation with relevant authorities, particularly with regards to ongoing developmental projects, strategic plans, and the outcomes of the Food Security Lab related to marketing. Additionally, the meeting evaluated the current logistical infrastructure aimed at improving supply chains and ensuring the efficient delivery of agricultural products to both local and international markets, exploring opportunities for further development.
The discussion also covered the key incentives and facilities provided by the Ministry to encourage farmers and companies involved in agricultural marketing, along with the Ministry’s plans and initiatives to enhance partnerships with related entities in order to improve the agricultural marketing environment.
For their part, the Excellencies members committee members inquired about the Ministry’s views on supporting innovation in agricultural marketing, activating artificial intelligence technologies to enhance e-marketing applications, and other related initiatives. They also asked about the Ministry’s plans to regulate local agricultural markets, ensure price stability, improve oversight of product quality, and address the main challenges and obstacles facing the agricultural marketing sector, along with the proposed solutions.
This took place during the Committee’s fifth meeting of the second ordinary session (2024-2025) of the tenth term of the Council, chaired by H.E. Khwaidim Mohammed Al-Mashani, Chairman of the Committee, and in the presence of their Excellencies members of the committee..
