Shura Bureau Reviews Standing Committee Reports, Ministerial Responses, and Follow-up Tools

The Shura Council Bureau, during its meeting today (Tuesday), reviewed the agenda for the Council’s 12th regular session of the third ordinary term (2025–2026), scheduled for Monday, 9 March. The Bureau also examined the first quarterly report on the activities of the Standing committees covering the period from November 2025 to January 2026, which included key topics and Draft Laws that were studied and finalized.
The meeting was held as part of the 10th regular Bureau session of the third ordinary term (2023–2027), chaired by H.E. Khalid Hilal Al Mawali, Council Chairman, with the presence of the Bureau members and Ahmed Mohammed Al Nadabi, Secretary-General of the Shura Council.
The Bureau reviewed several reports from the Council’s Standing committees regarding a number of submitted proposals, as well as a series of ministerial responses to follow-up tools Wishes by Council members. Notably, the response from H.E. the Minister of Education addressed the issue of female graduates of the distance learning program at the College of Sharia Sciences working on a daily-wage basis in public schools. H.E. the Minister of Economy responded to an inquiry regarding development projects across all governorates of the Sultanate of Oman, including a detailed disclosure of the Governorates Development Program projects for the years (2021–2025).
The Bureau also examined today requests for briefings submitted to H.E. Dr. Minister of Housing and Urban Planning on the Ministry’s e-services and land distribution initiatives, as well as a briefing request submitted to H.E. Dr. Minister of Labor concerning the “Ejada” system.
Under the agenda item concerning citizens’ correspondence, the Bureau also reviewed a request submitted by cancer patients and their families regarding their medical leave entitlements. The request called for a review of the medical leave system applicable to cancer patients, taking into account the health conditions and treatment periods required for each case. The Bureau decided to refer the request to the competent committee for further study and to submit a report thereon.
