The Shura Council Receives a Delegation from the British Parliament to Enhance Legislative Cooperation

This Sunday morning, His Excellency Taher Mubkhoot Al-Junaibi, deputy Chairman of the Shura Council, received a delegation from the British Parliament at the Council’s headquarters. The visit comes as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen bilateral relations between the Sultanate of Oman and the United Kingdom and to advance cooperation in parliamentary and legislative domains.
During the meeting, His Excellency warmly welcomed the guest delegation, extending wishes for a pleasant stay while commending the longstanding historical ties between the two friendly nations. He stressed the importance of continuously reinforcing these relations at the parliamentary level between the Shura Council and the House of Commons of the United Kingdom.
In turn, the guest delegation expressed their gratitude for the warm reception, emphasizing the significance of enhancing parliamentary cooperation in a manner that serves the interests of both peoples.
His Excellency then provided the delegation with an overview of the Shura Council’s journey in the Sultanate of Oman, outlining the Council’s legislative roles and discussing key draft laws currently under consideration.
The meeting was followed by a tour of the Council building, which included a visit to the deliberation chamber, where the delegation was introduced to the established voting procedures during sessions and a tour of the Oman Council Library.
This visit is part of sustained efforts to strengthen parliamentary and diplomatic relations between the Sultanate of Oman and the United Kingdom. Such engagements facilitate the exchange of parliamentary expertise and experiences, foster mutual understanding on shared issues, and support the development of bilateral relations across various fields.
