Digital Economy Study Team Reviews ICT Sector Indicators in the Sultanate of Oman

The Digital Economy Study Team held its fourth meeting today, chaired by H.E. Abdullah Zaher Al-Hinai, Head of the Team, with the participation of Their Excellencies the Team Members.
During the meeting, the team hosted a number of specialists from the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI), who presented a visual briefing on the national accounts related to the digital economy’s contribution to the telecommunications and information technology sector in the Sultanate of Oman.
The presentation covered several key topics, including the number of institutions classified under the economic activity, the detailed level adopted in national accounts, data sources and calculation methodology, as well as major economic indicators at current prices for the year 2022. It also included a review of relevant developmental aspects in the field.
Team members called for the involvement of the NCSI in committees concerned with future foresight, strategic planning, and economic diversification projects. They emphasized the importance of data accuracy and its critical role in supporting informed decision-making and enhancing the efficiency of the national economy.
This meeting is part of the team's ongoing efforts to support the Sultanate’s drive toward strengthening the digital economy, in alignment with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040.
