Education Committee Hosts the Siraj Foundation

The Education Committee hosted the Siraj Endowment Foundation for Educational Support. The foundation presented a visual overview of its efforts, initiatives, programs, and plans to the esteemed members of the committee. The presentation was delivered by Engineer Mahmoud Khalfan Al-Hadidi, the foundation's Executive Director.
H.E. Jamal Ahmed Al-Abri, head of the Education Committee, welcomed their Excellencies members of the council, specialists from the Siraj Foundation, and attendees from the council's General Secretariat. He also highlighted the council's significant role and efforts in adopting proposals related to endowment in the education sector.


The presentation included the foundation's vision and mission, focusing on its role in enhancing education through building community partnerships and securing sustainable funding. It also showcased the foundation's goals, such as improving quality, emphasizing innovation, promoting community engagement, and strategically distributing resources. Additionally, the presentation highlighted several initiatives, including a university student sponsorship program, along with statistics on beneficiaries and the religious and legal aspects of these initiatives.

The presentation also covered the foundation's funding sources and beneficiaries, as well as its governance system, which is audited by a licensed external auditor registered with the relevant authorities in Oman. The foundation’s digital transformation efforts and the financial platforms used for donations were also discussed, along with the "Mazaaya Siraj" online platform.


The esteemed members appreciated the foundation's pioneering role and emphasized the necessity and importance of education in nation-building. They underscored the significance of endowment institutions and the need for their development and sustainability to become effective counterparts to leading global endowment institutions in this field. They also stressed the importance of establishing appropriate legislation aligned with the foundation's competencies and the role of marketing to reach a broader segment of Omani society.

Following the presentation, a series of extensive discussions took place, where the esteemed members shared their views on several issues related to the foundation. They raised various inquiries focused on the importance of coordinating with endowment institutions affiliated with private universities across all governorates of Oman. Their questions also addressed the distribution mechanisms employed by the foundation, the conditions in place, cooperation with the private sector, and future plans for the development of the endowment institution.


The Siraj Endowment Foundation for Educational Support was established on October 23, 2019, with the aim of building diverse and sustainable financial portfolios, allocating significant resources to support education, encouraging innovations in scientific research, fostering a culture of giving, and strategically investing to enhance the quality of education in Oman.

The meeting was hosted by the Scientific Research and Innovation Committee of the council, with the attendance of Committee head H.E. Jamal Ahmed Al-Abri and in the presence of their Excellencies members of the committee.
