Shura Council participates in the Seminar of the Gulf legislative councils in Doha

The Shura Council participated in the joint Gulf seminar of legislative councils, organized by the Qatari Shura Council in collaboration with the General Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council.
The event, titled 'Cultural Diversity and Challenges of Change: the Role of Legislative Councils in Preserving Gulf Identity,' was held in the Qatari.
The seminar commenced with the H.E. Hassan Abdullah Al Ghanim, Chairman of the Qatari Shura Council, and H.E Dr. Hamad Abdulaziz Al Kuwari, Minister of State and Chairman of Qatar National Library, as speaker at the seminar. Additionally, distinguished members of the Gulf legislative councils, along with experts, academics, and stakeholders interested in the Gulf identity issue, delivered speeches during the event.
The seminar aims to highlight cultural diversity and how to benefit from it, emphasizing the necessity of strengthening the Gulf identity and emphasizing its common denominators.
It also seeks to exchange experiences and expertise, as well as highlight the role of legislative councils in promoting Gulf identity.
Shura Council participated with a working paper entitled "Oman's Efforts in Enhancing and Preserving National Identity amidst Cultural Diversity and the Challenges of Change.
H.E. presented the paper. Abdullah Hamad Al-Harthy, Chairman of the Committee for Media, Tourism, and Culture at the Council, addressing various aspects including factors influencing the enhancement of Gulf identity, cultural diversity and its impact on Gulf identity, and the media and its influence on Gulf identity.
The paper also focused on Oman's efforts in enhancing and preserving its identity through the goals of Oman Vision 2040 and the cultural strategy of the Sultanate of Oman, highlighting their roles in safeguarding national identity.
In addition, the paper highlighted the role of the Omani Council in supporting the enhancement and preservation of national identity. Within the paper, the Council presented a set of recommendations aimed at strengthening Gulf identity. These recommendations focused on reinforcing common Gulf identity concepts and fostering a sense of belonging to it as a strength to confront the challenges and rapid changes witnessed by the region.
The adoption of a common media discourse among the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries is crucial, emphasizing Gulf identity while rejecting sub-identities that threaten societal entity and stability.
This fosters the ability to confront the challenges of globalization with disciplined openness that preserves and reinforces this identity as a source of strength for Gulf societies. Enhancing educational curricula with comprehensive content embodying Gulf unity and common identity, aligning with modern educational approaches and mechanisms to enhance cognitive awareness among the youth.
The paper also emphasized the importance of enhancing the presence of Gulf identity in exhibitions, conferences, and Gulf events as an essential aspect in both form and content. It suggested leveraging digital platforms or direct meetings at the Gulf level to enhance youth dialogue, discussing the potentials of Gulf identity pride, its challenges, and empowering them to formulate a vision aligned with the requirements of the stage and youth aspirations. Furthermore, the recommendations and proposals presented by the council underscored the legislative roles of Gulf councils in supporting the development of legislation aimed at preserving Gulf identity amidst the artificial intelligence revolution and its impacts on individual and societal privacy.
The delegation was chaired by H.E.
Abdullah Hamad Al-Harthy, a member of the council, is the chairman of the Media, Tourism, and Culture Committee, and H.E. Mohammed Ali Al-Shuhi, also a member of the council, as a member of the Media, Tourism, and Culture Committee.
