The Shura Council will discuss the draft Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) between the Government of the Sultanate of Oman and the Government of the Republic of India, referred to the Council by the Cabinet, during its session scheduled for Wednesday. The discussion comes in accordance with Article (54) of the Law of the Oman Council, which stipulates that draft economic and social agreements the Government intends to conclude or accede to shall be referred by the Cabinet to the Shura Council to enable it to present its views and submit its conclusions to the Cabinet for appropriate action.

This was stated by Ahmed Al Nadabi, Secretary-General of the Shura Council, who indicated that the Council will convene its Fifth Regular Session of the Third Annual Sitting (2026–2027) of the Tenth Term (2023–2027) on Wednesday, 10 December. The session will review the perspective of the Economic and Financial Committee regarding the CEPA, based on the report the Committee prepared after examining the provisions of the agreement, its objectives, and the areas of economic cooperation it encompasses, in addition to the observations and views presented by the relevant authorities during the Committee’s recent meetings.
The Secretary-General further stated that the session will also discuss the report of the Committee for Education, Research, Innovation regarding the motion on addressing behavioural challenges among school students. He explained that the Committee reviewed the educational and technical aspects related to the issue and formulated recommendations aimed at enhancing the quality of school education in the Sultanate of Oman.
The session will likewise review the report of the Committee for Media, Tourism, Culture concerning the motion on establishing an auction for the sale of cultural and heritage artefacts. The report includes an examination of mechanisms for regulating auctions of cultural and heritage items and the governance frameworks governing them, in addition to assessing their cultural and social impact.
