Secretary-General of the Shura Council receives delegation from Algeria National People’s Assembly

H.E. Ahmed Mohammed Al-Nadabi, Secretary-General of the Shura Council, received this morning (Sunday) a delegation from the Secretariat of the National People’s Assembly of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria, currently visiting the Sultanate of Oman.
H.E. welcomed the Algerian delegation, highlighting the longstanding historical ties between the two brotherly countries and ways to further develop them, particularly in the parliamentary field, as well as enhancing coordination and cooperation between the two nations.
H.E. the Secretary-General also provided an overview of the Shura Council’s journey in Oman over more than three decades, noting the council’s development in terms of its legislative powers and competencies. He further discussed the criteria for candidacy for council membership, the mechanism for electing the Speaker and Deputies, the operational procedures of the council’s permanent committees, and the workflow in regular sessions.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Mohammed Khalfan Al-Asmi, Assistant Secretary-General for Sessions and Parliamentary Support, Dr. Adel Salem Beit Fadhl, Assistant Secretary-General for Administrative and Financial Affairs, and a number of council staff members.
During their visit to the Shura Council, the delegation toured the council’s premises and halls, observing the latest technologies used in council sessions, such as voting systems and other tools that assist council members in performing their duties.
The delegation also visited the Oman Council Library, where they reviewed its extensive collection of references, books, and periodicals related to parliamentary affairs and other disciplines that support council members and staff in developing the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their roles effectively.
