Shura Council and State Councils launched a joint exhibition which took place at the Municipality Entertainment Centre Salalah under the auspices of Sheikh Salem bin Ufait Al-Shanfari, Head of Dhofar Municipality, attended by members and Secretaries General of both Councils along with a number of guests.
The joint exhibition of the two councils presented the Omani Shura process, which comes from the keenness of His Majesty the Sultan to promote the Shura principle in the Sultanate, which is linked to Omani history through different ages. The exhibition included a reference to the institutional hierarchy of the modern Shura Council from the Council of Agriculture and Fisheries to the State Consultative Council (1981-1991), and afterwards to the Consultative Council (since 1991), and then State Council, and later on the Oman Council in 1997.
Moreover, the exhibition presented the roles and the legislative and oversight competencies which were accorded by the Basic Statute of the State issued in 1996 and amended in 2011 in respect of some provisions concerned with Oman Council. The exhibition also included informative presentation that touched on the work of Councils.
This joint exhibition reflected the integrated coordination of the Councils at the level of their different various bodies, such as the work of the executive boards and the joint sessions, in addition to their coordination with the Council of Ministers and the work of the two secretariats.
