As part of its official visit to the European Union Shura Council delegation meets with the President of the Belgian Chamber of Representatives

The Shura Council delegation, led by Deputy Speaker Taher Al-Junaibi, met this morning with H.E. Peter De Rover, President of the Belgian Chamber of Representatives, as part of the Council’s official visit to the European Parliament on 24–25 September to hold the twelfth joint meeting between the two sides.
During the meeting, the President of the Belgian Chamber of Representatives expressed his gratitude and appreciation for the visit, noting that it comes within the context of strengthening parliamentary relations between the two sides. He also commended the distinguished relations that bind the Sultanate of Oman and the European Union at various levels.
The discussions addressed matters of mutual interest between Oman and the European Union, as well as the existing trade and economic relations between Oman and the Kingdom of Belgium and ways to enhance them. The meeting also reviewed the investment opportunities available in Oman in various sectors, including renewable energy and logistics, with particular emphasis on the promising opportunities in the Duqm Economic Zone. He further highlighted Oman’s unique advantages, foremost among them stability, which provides an attractive environment for investment.
For his part, the Deputy Speaker of the Shura Council reaffirmed the areas of mutual cooperation, underscoring Oman’s rich tourism and investment opportunities and the importance of strengthening collaboration between the two sides in these fields.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both parties emphasized the importance of enhancing bilateral cooperation between the two friendly countries across areas of shared interest, commending the growing relations between Oman and the Kingdom of Belgium, and affirming their commitment to further developing them in service of their peoples’ mutual interests. The two sides also stressed the importance of strengthening parliamentary cooperation between the councils through meetings, visits, and the exchange of expertise.
The meeting was attended by Secretary-General Ahmed Al-Nadabi, Council Member Hussein Al-Lawati, and H.E. Ruaa Al-Zadjali, Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to the Kingdom of Belgium and Head of Mission to the European Union.
