A delegation from the 39th Command and Staff College Course visited the Shura Council on Monday, where they were briefed on the Council’s competencies, roles, and legislative powers.
The delegation received by H.E. Ahmed Mohammed Nasser Al Nadabi, Secretary-General of the Shura Council. During the meeting, he delivered a presentation highlighting the development of the Shura process in the Sultanate of Oman, as well as the Council’s legislative powers and responsibilities as stipulated in the Basic Law of the State and the Oman Council Law promulgated by Royal Decree No. 7/2021.
The presentation also outlined the Council’s oversight functions, supported by indicators and statistics reflecting the Council’s effective use of its oversight tools during the current period. The Secretary-General further discussed the role of the General Secretariat in supporting legislative work, in addition to explaining the procedures governing regular sessions and the work of the Council’s Bureau and standing committees.
H.E. the Secretary-General also highlighted the Shura Council’s role in fostering partnership and institutional integration with other state bodies in the national decision-making process and in supporting the objectives of Oman Vision 2040. He also emphasized the Council’s contribution to strengthening parliamentary diplomacy through its participation in various regional and international forums and meetings.
During the visit, the delegation toured the facilities of the Oman Council, including the deliberation chamber, where they received a briefing on its components and the advanced technologies used in managing sessions. They were also introduced to the electronic voting system employed for reviewing draft laws using state-of-the-art equipment.




The delegation additionally visited the Oman Council Library, a significant cultural and knowledge resource that houses a vast collection of books and contemporary studies, contributing to the enhancement of legislative work and providing valuable research support to Council members and employees of the General Secretariat.
