His Excellency Saeed Hamad Al-Saadi deputy  chairman of the Shura Council, received this morning (Tuesday) at the Council’s headquarters a delegation from the Ministry of National Defense of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria, headed by Brigadier General Namrou Azouz and his accompanying delegation.

During the meeting, His Excellency welcomed the visiting delegation and praised the strong bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries and their continued development. The two sides also discussed existing areas of cooperation between the Sultanate of Oman and Algeria.

His Excellency provided an overview of the Shura Council and its legislative functions in accordance with the Law of the Council of Oman, particularly with regard to reviewing and studying draft laws referred by the government.

For his part, the head of the Algerian military delegation praised the growth of bilateral relations and the close fraternal ties between the Sultanate of Oman and the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria.

The visiting delegation toured various facilities of the Shura Council and the Council of Oman, including the main deliberation hall, where they received a brief explanation of its components and the advanced technologies used in managing sessions. The delegation also visited the Council of Oman Library, which houses a wide collection of modern books and studies.

The meeting was attended by Council Members Salem Ali Al-Kaabi and Mohammed Ramadan Al-Balushi, along with a number of staff members from the General Secretariat.
