Shura Council to Discuss 2025 State Budget in Closed-Door Session

The Shura Council will hold a confidential session on Sunday, November 24, 2024, to deliberate on the 2025 State Budget Proposal. This session, part of the Council's second regular sitting for the second annual session (2024–2025) of its 10th term (2023–2027), will feature a statement by H.E. Sultan Salim Al Habsi, Minister of Finance.
According to H.E. Ahmed Mohammed Al Nadabi, Secretary-General of the Council, the meeting will focus on the financial and economic pillars of the budget, in line with Article 52 of the Oman Council Law, which stipulates the confidentiality of sessions discussing the development plans and the state budget.
The discussions will address critical aspects, including:
• Projections for public revenue and expenditure.
• Debt management strategies, deficit handling, and funding options.
• Indicators of economic growth, inflation rates, and investment allocations for 2025.
• Key economic and financial risks anticipated for the upcoming fiscal year.
Additionally, the Council will review several legislative and oversight items, such as the Real Estate Regulation Law, the Telecommunications and IT Regulation Law, and the Anti-Human Trafficking Law. Standing committee reports will also be discussed, covering topics such as employment in the security sector, shelter facility enhancements, and procedures to address foreign worker abscondment cases.
The session will conclude with a review of recommendations prepared by the Economic and Financial Committee, following their detailed study of the budget proposal. The committee’s findings align with the 10th Five-Year Development Plan (2021–2025) and Oman Vision 2040.
