09 ديسمبر 2024

The Shura Council welcomed a group of students and faculty members from the Arab Open University today (Monday) to provide insights into the council's roles and functions.
During the visit, the students were briefed on the competencies, responsibilities, and powers of the Shura Council as defined by the Basic Statute of the State and the Council of Oman Law. They also learned about the operational mechanisms of the council’s sessions and its standing committees, as well as the organizational structure and functions of the General Secretariat in supporting council members.
The visit included a guided tour of the council's premises, where participants received a detailed overview of the Shura Council’s evolution in Oman—from its beginnings as a consultative council to its current role—and its achievements in legislative work and oversight tools available to its members.
The students also toured the chamber and library of Oman council, where they were introduced to the electronic systems used for discussions during sessions and the voting mechanisms employed in the chamber.
