Chairman of the Shura receives Speaker of Bahrain’s Council of Representatives

H.E. Khalid Hilal Al Maawali, Chairman of the Shura Council, affirmed the deep fraternal and historical relations between the Sultanate of Oman and the Kingdom of Bahrain, and their continued growth across various fields, supported by the leadership of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik and His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
This came during his reception, on Wednesday morning, of H.E. Ahmed Salman Al Musallam, Speaker of Bahrain’s Council of Representatives, and his accompanying delegation, who are on an official visit to Oman at the invitation of the Chairman of the Shura Council to enhance parliamentary cooperation and coordination.
The Chairman welcomed the Bahraini Speaker and stressed the importance of parliamentary diplomacy in strengthening cooperation, particularly in legislative fields. He also highlighted the role and legislative powers of the Shura Council, its oversight tools, its integration within the Council of Oman, and its partnership with government institutions in achieving the objectives of Oman Vision 2040.
H.E. Ahmed Salman Al Musallam expressed his pleasure at visiting Oman, praising the country’s comprehensive development under the leadership of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik. He commended the constructive cooperation between the two councils and its role in unifying positions on regional and international parliamentary issues, and lauded the Omani Shura experience and its gradual expansion of legislative roles.
The visit included official talks, during which both sides emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation between the two countries’ legislative councils, exchanging expertise, and enhancing collaboration in economic, investment, and legislative areas.
On the sidelines of the visit, the Bahraini Speaker and his delegation toured the Council of Oman building, including the main chamber and library, where they were briefed on modern legislative systems and electronic voting mechanisms. The visit will also include meetings with senior Omani officials and tours of several tourist and historical landmarks in the Sultanate.
The meeting was attended by His Excellency Said Al-Saadi, deputy Chairman of the Shura Council; His Excellency Ahmed Mohammed Al-Nadabi, Secretary-General of the Council; and Their Excellencies Yasser Al-Mubaihsi and Mohammed Al-Ansi Al-Yafaei, members of the Shura Council.
