Shura Council Chairman Welcomed the Chairman of the UAE Federal National Council

H.E. Khalid  Hilal Al-Ma’awali, Chairman of the Shura Council, welcomed H.E. Saqr Ghubash, Chairman of the Federal National Council (FNC) of the United Arab Emirates, at the Shura Council headquarters on Sunday. The visit, which will last several days, aims to enhance the strong fraternal ties between Oman and the UAE across various fields.
 
During the meeting, H.E. the Shura Council Chairman warmly welcomed H.E. the FNC Chairman and his accompanying delegation, emphasizing the deep and longstanding relationship between Oman and the UAE. He highlighted the importance of the meeting in fostering collaboration, particularly in legislative affairs.

The discussions revolved around the strong brotherly relations binding the two nations and ways to further enhance and develop these ties across all sectors. Both sides also exchanged views on regional and international issues and the shared stances of their countries on these matters.

The meeting focused on strengthening joint coordination between the Omani Shura Council and the UAE Federal National Council through parliamentary diplomacy. Discussions also touched on aligning perspectives on various issues raised in regional and international forums, as well as enhancing legislative cooperation through the exchange of experiences, shared visits, and leveraging advanced technologies and artificial intelligence applications to support legislative work.

H.E. Khalid Al-Ma’awali elaborated on the Shura Council’s roles and legislative powers as stipulated in Oman’s Basic Statute of the State and the Oman Council Law. He underscored the Council’s integral role in Oman’s comprehensive sustainable development and its active participation in national decision-making, aligning with Oman Vision 2040.

H.E. Saqr Ghubash expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and conveyed his admiration for Oman’s progress and achievements under the wise leadership of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq. He commended the Shura Council’s rich and evolving experience, emphasizing the importance of continued cooperation between Oman and the UAE through their legislative councils to enhance expertise-sharing and legislative development.

During his visit, H.E. Saqr Ghubash and the accompanying delegation toured the Shura Council premises, admiring its architectural design inspired by Oman’s rich heritage. They visited the deliberation hall, where they were briefed on the state-of-the-art technologies used to manage sessions, including electronic voting systems. The delegation also toured the Oman Council Library.

The meeting was attended by H.E. Ahmed Mohammed Al-Nadabi, Secretary-General of the Shura Council, several Council members, and H.E. Mohammed Nakhira Al-Dhaheri, the UAE Ambassador to Oman.

H.E. Saqr Ghubash and his delegation arrived in Oman on Saturday. During their official visit, they are scheduled to meet with several officials and visit various historical and cultural landmarks in the Sultanate.
