The Health and Social Affairs Committee of the Shura Council hosted several officials from the Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Investment Promotion this Sunday morning to discuss the proposal on enhancing investment in the private health sector. The meeting aimed to gather insights and observations to bolster national investment in this sector, ultimately providing effective, high quality, and cost-efficient healthcare services.
During the meeting, chaired by His Excellency Mansour bin Zahir Al-Hajri and attended by committee members, discussions focused on the regulation of certain commercial activities related to the health sector and the Ministry's role in promoting national investment in the private health sector.

The discussion also covered investment projects in the private health sector and the opportunities that could strengthen this sector and increase its contribution to the GDP, particularly in medical industries such as pharmaceuticals and medical supplies.

Committee members inquired about the incentives and facilitators provided by the Ministry to streamline investment procedures for local and foreign investors in Oman, simplifying processes and reducing the time required to complete them. The Ministry officials highlighted their efforts to improve and expedite procedures, especially with the ongoing digital transformation across all institutions in Oman.

Additionally, the officials emphasized the importance of offering a range of incentives to attract investors, including project financing and support in planning, with a focus on preparing preliminary feasibility studies for these projects.

The meeting also stressed the need to review the Foreign Capital Investment Law to align it with current and future developments, and to promote the types of projects the Omani market needs. This approach aims to enhance the development of the health sector and its potential impact on advancing medical tourism.
