This morning (Tuesday), Shura Council members were briefed on the prominent social benefits provided by the Social Protection Fund for individuals and society. This was presented in a visual presentation by Dr. Faisal bin Abdullah Al-Farsi, the CEO of the Social Protection Fund, along with several specialists from the fund.

The presentation, attended by His Excellency Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Nadabi, Secretary-General of the Shura Council, and several honorable members of the council, included a detailed explanation of the role of the social protection system and its humanitarian and social benefits. The system aims to enhance the quality of life and provide social protection and care in society through the development and implementation of policies and programs targeting social and economic areas to achieve national goals and visions. It emphasizes sustainability, integration, inclusiveness, stability, and its impact on the values of community partnership and the preservation of the rights of current and future generations.

The fund's specialists also clarified the objectives and mechanisms of eligibility for social protection benefits, representing a set of rights and duties implemented by the Social Protection Fund for individuals and families to provide care and support in various aspects of life, protect deserving groups in society, and promote social solidarity and justice to achieve social and economic stability.

During the presentation, honorable members of the council raised several interventions and inquiries regarding the entitlements of Shura Council members within the fund's programs and the mechanisms for benefiting from them. Inquiries were also made about aspects related to the benefits of retirees and the 


elderly, as well as clarification regarding the benefits for job seekers and housewives, and the process for considering their inclusion in the fund's benefits in the future stage.

It is worth noting that the social protection system focuses on its goals and mechanisms to translate the state's fundamental system, national directives, and the vision of "Oman 2040" aimed at achieving social justice, equality, and enhancing efforts for economic development to achieve welfare for citizens. It is considered a comprehensive system and integrated coverage for sustainable community care that keeps pace with the best international practices and experiences.
