The Education, Research, and Innovation Committee of the Shura Council convened for its tenth regular meeting of the first annual session of the tenth term (2023-2027) this morning (Wednesday). The meeting centered on a proposal to "Enhance the Attraction of International Students and Open Branches of International Universities in the Sultanate of Oman." The committee evaluated the objectives and economic viability of the proposal, relevant investment bodies in this sector, and exemplars of successful regional and Arab models.

At the meeting, chaired by HE Jamal bin Ahmed Al-Abri, Chairman of the Committee, and attended by several committee members, the role of investment in developing the academic aspects of Oman was discussed. The discussions also covered reducing the costs of scholarships and study expenses for Omani students by localizing specialized disciplines required by the local labor market.

Furthermore, the committee members deliberated upon the specifics of the statement delivered by HE the Minister of Higher Education, Research, and Innovation, in preparation for the upcoming sitting of the council, where the statement will be subjected to a comprehensive examination.
