H.E. Ahmed Mohammed Al Nadabi, Secretary General of the Shura Council, received this morning at the Council’s headquarters H.E. Dr. Mohammad Reza Majidi, Secretary General of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA), who is currently visiting the Sultanate of Oman on an official visit aimed at strengthening parliamentary cooperation and communication between the two sides.
During the meeting, the two officials exchanged cordial discussions that reflected the strong ties between Oman’s Shura Council and the Asian Parliamentary Assembly. They also reviewed a number of issues of mutual interest and explored ways to further enhance parliamentary relations and develop areas of cooperation and coordination, contributing to the advancement of Asian parliamentary work and the expansion of partnership and mutual understanding among parliamentary institutions in member states.
Both sides emphasized the importance of maintaining communication and exchanging parliamentary expertise and experiences, highlighting the role of parliamentary diplomacy in supporting development efforts and regional cooperation, while promoting dialogue and understanding among the peoples of Asian countries.
H.E. Dr. Mohammad Reza Majidi expressed his sincere appreciation for the warm welcome and generous hospitality he has received since his arrival in the Sultanate of Oman. He also commended the country’s progress across various sectors and its role in supporting cooperation and dialogue at both the regional and international levels.
Following the meeting, H.E. Dr. Majidi toured the premises of the Shura Council, where he was introduced to several of its key facilities. The visit included the Council Chamber, where he learned about the procedures governing council sessions and the mechanisms for discussing agenda items. He also received an overview of the Council’s responsibilities and its legislative role under the Oman Council Law in supporting the Sultanate’s comprehensive development process.
The tour further included a visit to the Oman Council Library, where Dr. Majidi reviewed its extensive collection of knowledge resources, documents, and specialized publications that support parliamentary studies and research. He was also briefed on the research and information services provided to specialists and researchers. In addition, he viewed the architectural model of the Oman Council building and received an explanation of its various components and facilities, designed to meet the requirements of modern parliamentary work. He expressed his appreciation for the advanced institutional infrastructure supporting legislative activities in the Sultanate of Oman.
The Secretary General of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly is undertaking an official visit to the Sultanate of Oman, during which he is scheduled to meet with several officials. His program also includes visits to prominent cultural and tourist landmarks across the Sultanate, offering insights into Oman’s rich cultural and historical heritage and reflecting the authenticity of Omani society and its distinguished civilizational standing.
