Shura Council approves the review of Research Fund Policies and the Omani Youth Empowerment Study

Shura Council approved at its 24th sitting for the 3rd annual session (2018-2017) of the 8th term, the study of Education and Research Committee on the revision of funding policies of research and its impact on the status of research. It aims to study the challenges of funding the national system of research compared to countries in the region and developed countries. This will be conducted based on the statistics of the National Center for Statistics and Information. It will examine the lack of researchers in the Sultanate and the issue of full-time researchers, as well as the small number of research funded compared to financial allocations. The committee aims at supporting the research activities, research programs, Omani researchers and academics, increasing their numbers, finding ways to diversify the fields of research and directing them to serve the Sultanate, as well as achieving revenues research, and involving the private sector in supporting this vision.
Shura Council Approves a Study On Empowering Omani Youth to Contribute to Sustainable Development
 
Shura Council also approved the study of the Youth and Human Resources Committee on the empowerment of Omani youth to contribute to sustainable development. H.E. Mohammed bin Salem Al Busaidi, Chairman and Rapporteur of the Youth and Human Resources Committee presented the report of the Committee before the Council. The aim of the study is to identify the aspirations and needs of Omani youth in the process of sustainable development, to find ways to Empower Omani youth, and enhance their participation in sustainable development, as well as bridging the gap between youth and related institutions.
 
Shura Council Members Agree with the Expressed Wish to Establishing a Center for Measuring the Speed of Delivery and Quality Assurance in Government Institutions
 
Shura Council Members, after the majority vote, approved the wish to establish a center to measuring the speed of delivery and quality assurance in the government institutions, which will have a number of responsibilities; the most important of which is to set a clear methodology for developing, speeding, improving and measuring the performance of public sector institutions and their staff, and all departments involved in providing services to citizens.
 
 
Discussion of Draft Law Regulating the Practice of Medicine and Assistant Medical Professions
 
The draft law regulating the practice of medicine and the assistant medical professions was also discussed during the sitting, in addition to the draft law on the unified system regulating the activity of companies and private institutions operating in the field of express mail and parcels in the GCC countries.
