Economic Committee of Shura Council discusses Its Plan for the Third Annual Session

The Economic and Financial Committee of the Shura Council held its plan for the third annual session (2025–2026) of the Council’s tenth term. The committee's plan was developed based on its core responsibilities, which include reviewing draft laws and agreements, development plans, and the state's general budget. It also covers national economic policies, economic diversification, fiscal and monetary policies, as well as internal and external investment strategies, free zones, taxation, customs, and fees.
The meeting, chaired by H.E. Ahmed Saeed Al Sharqi, headof the Committee, and in the presence of their Excellencies members of the committee. , also saw the approval of the final report on the amended agreement with the Republic of Austria. In addition, the committee reviewed its report evaluating the session in which the Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion delivered a statement. The government’s response to the Council’s report on the draft state budget for the fiscal year 2025 was also presented during the meeting.
The committee adopted its observations and insights regarding the indicators and projects outlined in the Ministry of Economy’s 2024 annual report, in line with the goals of the Tenth Five-Year Plan and Oman Vision 2040. This discussion was held pursuant to Article (55) of the Law of the Council of Oman, which stipulates: Service ministers shall provide Majlis Al-Shura with an annual report on the implementation stages of the projects of the ministries they head. The majlis may invite any of them to provide statements on matters relevant to the competences of the ministry he heads, and debate the same with him.
